Acid Stain Colours

Each concrete slab accepts stains in various degrees of intensity, creating a stunning and varied surface that looks perfectly aged. Choose from the following eight colours to make the right choice for any interior or exterior concrete surface.



Green Lawn: Soft grey-green resembling aged Italian marble

Cola: Reddish-brown resembling old leather

Aqua Blue: Soft blue patina with undertones of green

Malay Tan: Buckskin suede tone with caramel modeling

Black: Tortoise shell black with brown marbling

English Red: Terra cotta with rust and soft brown hues

Vintage Umber: Rich earthy brown


Golden Wheat: Ambered hued undertones
 

 

That depends in large part on the type of stain you're using. Generally, there are two categories of concrete stains--reactive and nonreactive--. In the first category are chemical stains--water-based acidic solutions containing metallic salts that react with the concrete's lime content. Once the chemical reaction takes place, the stain forms a permanent bond with the concrete and won't chip off or peel away.


In the nonreactive category are water-based acrylic stains that don't rely on a chemical reaction to impart colour. Instead, they are formulated to penetrate the concrete surface and deposit their pigment particles in the open pores. The downside: They won't produce the same variegated, translucent colour tones characteristic of acid stains.
