Can the Acid Staining Be Used for Both Interior and Exterior Applications?
Because they penetrate the concrete surface, most acid- and water-based stains have excellent UV stability and wear resistance, permitting you to use them on both interior and exterior concrete slabs. Momentum Industrial Coatings recommends applying a clear sealer, like our Cayenne Clear or Velocity Clear to newly stained or dyed concrete for additional protection from abrasion, chemicals, and UV exposure.

How Long Is the Drying Time?
This could be a critical issue on fast-track projects where you need to open the surface to traffic as soon as possible. Acid stains required drying times in-between coats is typically at least 5 hours ~ overnight to give the stain time to react. Then the stain residue must be rinsed off and the surface permitted to dry before a sealer can be applied. Velocity Clear generally dries very quickly, reducing the amount of time it takes to complete a job by as much as 60%, according to Jeff Stern, President. "In most cases, Velocity Clear can be dry in less than a day, and have you back on the floor” he says.
Concrete Stain Resistance
The most important factor to understand when it comes to concrete’s stain resistance is the type of sealer used. Any unsealed, natural state of concrete will stain because concrete is porous. The good news is that Momentum Industrial Coatings offers two varieties of concrete sealers Cayenne Clear & Velocity Clear, both create a nearly impermeable surface that is highly tolerant and resistant to staining. The concrete itself is virtually indestructible, but staining occurs when the sealer is compromised. This can happen when sharp objects cut or scuff, or when furniture is dragged across or if a heavy object is dropped. Spills from juices, wine and other types of liquid typically do not affect the surface when they are cleaned up quickly. With a few precautions, acid stained concrete can be one of the most durable surfaces for flooring. .....read more
